Poaching Solution Partners...
There is speculation of 'Sage-like' software being promoted in the market and supposedly of interest to Sage resellers. But it is an age old debate and something that has been a forever problem for the industry.
The normal life-cycle for a partner is that the top 20 per cent are generally happy with their lot - they push the vendor however, their lives are so intertwined'that they have to remain in business together. The other 80 per cent love the vendor and hate the vendor in equal measure. This leads to channel contention.
In a buoyant market there is always room for more solution software, however, in a stagnant market there is not. I would suggest the world does not need more 'Sage-like' software at this time.
Also, you have to admire the Sage channel, it is a fairly loyal group, most having been there for sometime and Sage seems to have done a good job with them.
I would suggest it is very risky to take on any new solution software at this time, especially if this is in an established market with a good strong solution/channel already in place. Many, even the big boys, have tried and failed to extend into the market.
I am not surprised people are targeting the Sage channel, there are very few 'small to medium' business successful solution sales channels anywhere in any market!
